Mid-week Update (:

Hey all you people of the world! I have not made a new post in a while, so I just wanted to give a little update as to what has been going on around here.

 This past weekend I went and did some therapeutic shopping and hangout day with my best friend  We hit up the mall, and I restocked on some basics for my summer wardrobe (meaning there might be a mini haul soon). She also got a call, and found out that she got the job at Bath and Body. Which means, more smell-good items for me to purchase. Of course, just to support my friend's new job, not to indulge that shopping habit. (;

I also got the chance to catch up with some of my friends from high school. We went out for lunch at Which-Which, and then got some summery snow cones  from the SnowCone Lady. The SnowCone Lady, has this little snow cone stand with the cheapest, but the best snow cones ever! It is the best place to get a cool-down during the Texas summer heat. YUM!

I am quite sure that everyone has already heard about the tornadoes that went through Oklahoma, but I just wanted yall' to know that prayers are coming from your neighbor Texas. I am glad that so many people were able to stay safe, and I hope that everything gets as close to normal as possible for all those who were affected. Stay safe!

That is pretty much everything that has happened so far (:

Until Next Time,
Christine

Honey Cinnamon Nutmeg Face Mask

Late night mask time.

Hey there people! I have been really crazy-obsessed with skincare lately, and making sure the products I use are not bad for my face or the rest of my body. So, I was looking at easy to make homemade skincare products, when I stumbled upon the Honey Cinnamon Nutmeg Face Mask! It uses only the ingredients listed in its title! And all the ingredients are natural, which means no harsh chemicals for your face (which is always a good thing).

Together the honey, cinnamon, and nutmeg smell really delicious, and amazingly have super secret powers that end up helping out your face! They help out with blackheads, heal acne scars, and reduce redness/swelling!
Close up of what the mask looks like.

So, if you want to make the mask yourself here are the steps:

1. Gather your ingredients:

  • 1 Tbs of honey
  • 1/2 tsp of cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp of nutmeg
2. Mix it together! It should come out as a thick paste, and then apply to your face. Let the mask sit for 15-25 minutes, and then remove by gently scrubbing off in small circles. What is also great about this mask is, when you scrub off the mask it also an exfoliating effect!

**WARNING: For some this mask may be harsh on the skin, especially for those with sensitive skin. So before putting the mask all over the face, put a small amount on your wrist (or other sensitive skin areas) to test the ingredients.**

Hope all of yall' try the mask, and enjoy!

Until next time,
Christine (:

Boone Outing: Star Trek- Into Darkness

Live long and prosper.
Today was a very early morning, but still exciting and filled with nerdiness. My whole family is just a giant group of nerds! For me Doctor Who, my sister gets way to excited about scooters, the other crazy about music, and my brother is a nerd for art and video games. But, we are all similar in that we are MAJOR nerds for Star Trek. Because my dad is such a huge Trekkie, of course we were raised as his little Trekkie children. I was super-duper excited for this movie to come out, and we went to see it as a family today. I have seen every episode of the Original and New Generation series' (original all the way!), so of course we must see all the new movies that come out too! Overall, I really liked the movie. I think Chris Pine, and Zachary Quinto are incredible in their roles. And Benedict Cumberbatch, makes an absolutely terrifying villain. I don't want to spoil the movie for anyone that is going to see, but the twists and turns in the movie are pretty good, and set up for the next movies perfectly. Anyways, I was just too much of nerd to not share some of my Trekkie excitement with yall'. Anyways, if you like anything Star Trek, and science-fiction themed, you should check it out!

Until next time,
Christine

Summer Time Smoothies!

I have been liking fruit a lot lately, so my little sister and I decided to make some fruit smoothies (:
We went with the classic Strawberry Banana Smoothie! Smoothies are a great way to get your fruit and keep cool in the summer sun. So if you want a very simple recipe for smoothies here we go!
Enjoying my smoothie, while rockin' the Snoopy cup, and some crazy pool hair.

 Summertime Strawberry Banana Smoothie:

4 large strawberries
1/2 cup of milk (we used lactose free b/c of dairy allergies, but you can use any kind)
1 ripe banana
5 ice cubes
1 1/2 tsp of sugar
a couple drops of vanilla

Combine strawberries, milk, banana, and ice cubes. Blend until perfectly smooth. Add sugar. Blend for approximately one minute. Enjoy!

*If you want an even healthier smoothie, you can add honey instead of sugar.*

Hope you enjoy this recipe. If you make your smoothies a different way, please comment with your suggestions, as I would love to hear it!

Bye Yall'!

Home At Last!

My sister, Claire, and I on our way to the Museum of Art!

I cannot believe that another school year has already came and gone. It is so crazy that last year around this time, I had finally narrowed it down to Baylor as my school of choice. And today I am back at home, with my first year of college done! It is scary and exciting to see how fast time flies. Even though I am glad to be back home, I am still really missing all of my new friends that I made ):
I cannot wait for next year to start. But, before that happens I am going to spend this summer having lots of fun with my friends and family back at home! I am ready to relax by the pool, read some books,  and catch up on all my shows. And, I will most assuredly hit up the stores and get lots of shopping done (and hopefully kick that bad online shopping habit).  Anyways, just wanted to talk to yall' for a little bit. Have an awesome summer yall'! :D

Until next time,
Have fun yall'!

Finals...AGH!

It is already finals week for the spring semester! And you know what that means. Lots of coffee, late nights, no sleep, and last but definitely not least...STRESS.
AGH! I am stressed out man!

I think the worst thing about finals is Dead Week. Those few days you have off class to study for the tests. Personally, I think it is awesome that we get those few extra days to study like crazy, but all that time also makes me psych myself out before the exams even start. And I find myself wide-eyed and scared that I am going to forget everything that I learned through the semester. Here are a couple things that I have helped me to reduce some of that stress, during study/finals time:

1. Good Music:
Some people like to have their study environments so, super-duper quiet to concentrate. But, I always feel distracted by every single little noise that happens when it gets too quiet. So, to help myself concentrate I like to listen to some really good, calming music. Sometimes I find it helpful to just listen to instrumental soundtracks, so that I do not concentrate on the lyrics instead of what I am studying.

2.  Take Breaks:
Do NOT just study, study, study. That can result in information overload, and a reboot may not always be possible. Plus I do not think you roommate or study buddies want to see you go crazy town. Being a professional procrastinator and purveyor of all things lazy, I always think it is a good idea to take a nice break once in awhile. In addition to gaining back all your sanity, it is also good to take breaks to let your brain take in all of the information you are looking over. Take a nap, watch a video, take a walk; just do something other than just staring at a computer screen or your textbook!

3. Have some yummy snacks yo!:
I know this is surprising but, your body needs food! Do not starve yourself while studying. Your roommate does not need to come back from the library to find you on the floor from starvation.

4. Do not forget to sleep:
I know you want to stay up all night to try and take in all the information you think you will forget. But,  none of your studying will payoff if you do not get any sleep. Our bodies need REM sleep to help encode all of the things we learn our brain-boxes. And we get sleep it helps us remember those facts for the exams. Plus, sleep is awesome!

5. Don't psych yourself out:
If you paid attention in class and read, you will do fine. Take a deep breath and remember that you are the bomb-diggity! If you have a positive attitude going into the exam and while you are studying, it will help out in the long run. Having a positive outlook will let you not psych yourself out, and do your best.

Anyways, I hoped at least one of these helps yall' out when you are studying or taking exams. Good luck out there!!

Until next time (:

Billy Bob's

Hey yall'!!
This post is a little late for me, but so many things have been happening at school and at home for me to be posting lately. And, I know it is a lame excuse, but it is true. (:
Anyways, my best friend's sister had her 21st birthday a couple of weeks ago, and for that we all went out. We went to Billy Bob's: Texas' Largest Honky Tonk. They have everything! Dancing, bands, music, pool, and even live bull riding. Because, her sister is super-duper country, she decided to teach us some line-dancing, and some two-step. Which I have to admit is not as hard as I thought (even though I still messed up pretty bad). It was a ridiculous amount of fun, and I got to do many things which I had never done before! Like play pool, which is really surprising to me that I have never played. But,  let's just say I will probably never play again, because my pool playing skills are even worse than my line dancing skills. And watching the bull riding was pretty neat too. Although it was really dangerous, it was fun to root on the people riding the bulls, to see if they could hold on longer. And last but not least, I finally got to wear my new boots!!
Going to Billy Bob's was definitely an experience. And, if you ever get a chance to go line dancing, I say just go for it! It is super fun, and if you are with your friends you can always have fun just dancing like crazy! (:
Get out there and dance!
Until next time,
Christine (:
Evidence of me actually attempting to two-step,
and the disco-ball saddle in the middle.
I wore a red, loose button down shirt, jeans,
and my boots of course!

Walk for the Cure

My friend Cati and I before Relay for Life.
This past Friday at Baylor University, we had our Relay for Life Event. And it was so much fun! If you do not yet know, Relay for Life is a fundraising walk that lasts all night, to raise awareness for cancer. By participating in the walk everyone is celebrating those who have survived cancer, those who still have it, and commemorate those who have passed. There are different events during every Relay for Life event that allow for each community to hold one that is unique and personal to each. We get to hear stories from those who have cancer to share their individual experiences and journeys. At Baylor we had a hair cutting ceremony, where those who had ridiculously long hair, had it cut, so they could donate it.
The survivors, during the survivor lap.
But, by far one of my favorite parts of the night is the Candlelight Luminaria. There are bags placed all around the track with names of loved ones who we have lost to cancer, or of those who currently have it, to honor them and remember their lives. Each bag represents a different person, and just show how much cancer can affect a community. For me, this was really personal because I lost my mom to cancer this past October. While looking at all of the luminaria, I could remember all of the good times we had, and how fulfilled her life was. It was a good way for me to commemorate her memory, and honor who she was. I love you mom!
My mom! Love and miss you!
Anyways, I strongly encourage whoever may be reading this to find ways to honor those that you love, and to cherish every little moment! And, if there is a Relay for Life in your community to get a team together and participate. Or participate in any event that might be closest to your heart. Not only to have a fun time with your friends, but to help raise awareness for cancer, and raise money for the research. You can sign up here.

Until next time,
Christine (:

I Love it!

Today I thought I would start something new. So, I decided this would be the perfect way to share 5 of my favorite, "I love it" things that I find interesting or super cool enough to share with yall'. Here we go!

NUMBER ONE

I am loving the big curl/messy hair style, and the ombre. Zoe is a blogger from Zoella on YouTube is probably my hair envy of the moment. Her hair is always gorgeous!

NUMBER TWO

Miranda Lambert is one of my favorite singers. Her voice is incredible, and  her songs are always empowering. She does not take anything from anyone. Her new music video for "Mama's Broken Heart" came out recently, and it is hilarious. I love it!!

NUMBER THREE

One of my love-it items in makeup this week are the Archie's Girl Collection from M-A-C.  I love the theme of the collection, with the opposite of the two color ranges of the makeup, which represent Betty and Veronica. My personal favorite is the Pep-Pep-Pep Creme Nail Polish from the Betty side of the collection.

NUMBER FOUR

Makeover Strawberry Cake Recipe
My birthday was last weekend, so you know what that means... lots of cake, and yummy desserts! My friends are the opposite of me when it comes to cooking and baking, and are natural pros. So of course I was given many sweet treats. But, my favorite is strawberry cake! And I have to say that has got to be one of my love-its for this week (even though it means extra gym time).

NUMBER FIVE

Last but definitely not least, is one of my favorite web series of the moment, The Lizzie Bennet Diaries. It is based on the classic novel, "Pride and Prejudice", but set in modern times. Lizzie posts video blogs twice a week, which are adaptations of the happenings in the novel, and perfect little doses of drama to keep you watching. The videos are hilarious, the story is great, and it is a remake of one my favorite books. I love it! If you want to check it out go here.

I hope yall' like my love-its. They are all really fantastic, and picked them out to share specifically with all of you. Next week I will have some more of my fave 5 love-its.

See yall' later! <3

I went to do some shopping at Willow Bend for some time with my best friend and sister. We hit up a ton of stores, and I picked up a few things I thought I would show yall’. First, we went to Lush (of course!) and we picked up a few of our favorite bath bombs, and looked at the Easter collection (which was pretty cute too). I picked up a tub of the Ocean Salt- face and body scrub (I will add links for everything at the bottom). We also went to Forever-21, which always has really cheap makeup and nail polishes. Where I got two pink colors, Coral and Light Pink. They have so many colors to choose from and are actually pretty good for a cheap nail polish. I also found a really cute makeup bag that is a mint color, with little French Bulldogs all over it. You can never have too many makeup bags right??
Products: Ocean Salt Face and Body Scrub, $35 (LUSH). The Brightside Bubble Bar, $8.95 (LUSH). Coral Love & Beauty Nail Polish, $2.80 (Forever 21). Light Pink Love & Beauty Nail Polish, $2.80 (Forever 21). French Bulldog Cosmetic Pouch, $6.80 (Forever 21).

Lifescouts!

I heard about this really cool badge system online created by Alex Day (Youtuber) recently. It allows people to earn badges online, or actual badges/pins that you can purchase. They are earned if you have completed one the tasks/activities. Anything from horse-back riding, skydiving, seeing the Mona Lisa, playing chess, or even owning a pet. I like this because you can reblog certain badges that you have actually earned, and acts as a way to tell your stories about each of the badges with your friends and the internet in general. It also encourages people to get out and do the things that they have wanted to do, but maybe not had a reason to do before! If you want to check out Lifescouts, go to lifescouts.com.

So, without further ado, here is one of my badges:

Horse- Riding Badge:

One of those dreams that most little girls share, is getting to have a pony of their own. Do not ask me why, or what makes us think this is a grand idea but, we still want one anyways. Well, my dream finally came true at the age of 12. Even though it technically was not a pony, and it really didn’t qualify as my own, I still count it. My sister and some of our friends went to this ranch for a fall break trip, and had the grand experience of horseback riding. How hard could riding a horse be? I would soon find out. Getting on the horse was hard enough (because of my fun-sized stature) but, the ranchers decided they would take us on a “peaceful” trot through the very rocky, tree-filled path to learn to ride. Because, of me being me, and getting distracted by everything, I was not really listening to all the directions they gave (including how to tell the horse  to speed up/slow down/stop). I was bouncing so much on the horse that it accidentally thought I wanted to speed up, resulting in hitting my head on a nearby tree branch, and my sliding off. So, this resulted in the horse galloping of at a very high pace, while I am upside down holding to the reins, trying not to fall off. Eventually I fell and was miraculously not trampled by the following horses. I is probably a smart conclusion that I will never be attempting horses again.

So, tell me about one of your badges, or go to tumblr and reblog them there! Have fun!

Today marks my 5 year friendaversary with my best friend! We have been through some crazy things, and she is one of the greatest people I have the pleasure of calling my best friend. She was not only there for me during times of excitement or fun, but she also helped me get through many hard times that have also passed. I want to thank her for always being there for me!!

So, to celebrate our fantastic friendship, we go out early to shop, eat some fantastic breakfast at our favorite restaurant, Original House of Pancakes. But, because she is so incredibly awesome, I thought I would get her a present, just because. But, little did I know she got me one too! So that is what I have to share with all of yall’ today.

I got two pairs of stud earrings, the “Pep Pep Pep” nail polish (1), and the Betty Opulash Optimum Black Mascara (2), from the Archie’s Girls collection at MAC. She also gave me a really cool Doctor Who Exploding TARDIS t-shirt(3).

Bastille

This is one of my favorite bands of the moment: Bastille. I was so excited when I heard they were coming to America (Texas too!), but disappointed when I found out that they were playing in Austin when I couldn't go. But, if you live in the Austin, Texas area and want to hear a band with amazing vocals, I would check out Bastille! They are going to be at SXSW, in March on the 13th, 14th and 15th. Their originals are amazing, and have two sets of covers that they recorded (which also integrate famous movie quotes). Their sound is incredible in recording, so they will sound even better live! If you want to listen to some of their music or check out those dates, you can go here. Check em' out!

March On

Who can believe it? It is already March. Personally my favorite month, for many reasons. The official start of Spring, my birthday, warmer weather, and of course St. Patrick's Day! That means wearing lots of green to avoid those pesky little pinchers. So here are some suggestions to avoid getting pinched and still looking cute!

St. Patty's Day

The change in weather from chilly to cool, means a change in wardrobe too! So when spring weather rolls around in March, I like to bring out more skirts and dresses. A cute, plain skirt, or a patterned dress would be cute way to be in the festive spirit, and at the same time add a fun flair. For the nail gurus, finding a great green color to ring in St. Patty's would be perfect. And for those who like to keep it simple (like me), a plain breezy button down, or an adorable pair of green earrings could do the trick! Hope you like these ideas. Happy St. Patty's Day!!

Details: 1. Swish and Spin Skirt in Green (Modcloth). 2. Essie in Palmetto. 3. Tenki Green Retro Floral Print Peter Pan Collar Dress (Newlook). 4. Chevron Earring Studs (Etsy). 5. Pam Breeze-ly Tunic in Green (Modcloth).

What Just Happened...

Do you ever have those days where everything is just great? The sun is shining, it is positively beautiful outside, and you have not a care in the world, and nothing could change that. You trip, fall, and get knocked down, but you persevere and get right back up. For me today was one of those days. Until something extremely peculiar happened in one of my lecture classes.

Being in a good mood always makes me friendlier, and act more positively towards others. Usually I am the quietest person in the room and tend to keep to myself, but when I am feeling good, I like to meet new people and just have a good time. So, my friend and I started introducing ourselves to the people around us, and started to have casual conversations (about music, favorite shows, etc;). At this point we had been talking to this guy (who we will just call "C"), and brought up the subject of our favorite songs. At this point things started to get really weird. "C" told us his favorite song was "O. Lover", by Jason Mraz. When we told him that we had never heard the song before, he proceeded to sing it out loud...and started to dance. In my opinion, that is not something that one does if they are trying to have a casual conversation with people they have just met. It was quite frankly the strangest thing that has ever happened, until...

Later in the class, we heard our names being whispered (quite loudly) from across the room. When we turned to find out where the whispers were coming from, and found "C". He was standing right behind our chairs, got really close, and asked in a really quite voice, "Would you like some lotion?". He then proceeded to pull out a bottle of lotion from his pocket. WHAT! WHO CARRIES AROUND A BOTTLE OF LOTION AND OFFERS IT TO PEOPLE THAT THEY JUST MET. If the singing and dancing wasn't bad enough, he had to add this incident to the list of strangest things that have happened to me. What are some peculiar things that have happened to you?

Hey There!

Hello world! I thought since I was starting a blog, I thought the perfect post to start it off, would be to introduce myself to you! My name is Christine, and I am an enthusiastic nerd and admirer of all things cute. I live, and was born and raised in the good ol' state of Texas. I have a HUGE family, whom I love very much, and a crazy, stick-legged chihuahua. I love the rain, reading a good book, and listening to music. I am afraid of falling, but eager to jump right in.
