I have been liking fruit a lot lately, so my little sister and I decided to make some fruit smoothies (:
We went with the classic Strawberry Banana Smoothie! Smoothies are a great way to get your fruit and keep cool in the summer sun. So if you want a very simple recipe for smoothies here we go!
Enjoying my smoothie, while rockin' the Snoopy cup, and some crazy pool hair.
Summertime Strawberry Banana Smoothie:
4 large strawberries
1/2 cup of milk (we used lactose free b/c of dairy allergies, but you can use any kind)
1 ripe banana
5 ice cubes
1 1/2 tsp of sugar
a couple drops of vanilla
Combine strawberries, milk, banana, and ice cubes. Blend until perfectly smooth. Add sugar. Blend for approximately one minute. Enjoy!
*If you want an even healthier smoothie, you can add honey instead of sugar.*
Hope you enjoy this recipe. If you make your smoothies a different way, please comment with your suggestions, as I would love to hear it!
Having been out of school for approximately two days, the transition from loads of schoolwork, to having nothing to do is extremely difficult. Yesterday I was so clueless as to what to do, that I cleaned the whole house. And today I found myself just sitting on the the computer watching YouTube videos all day. If you have not watched or been on YouTube in a while, some of the vloggers have been making these 25 or 50 facts about me vlogs. In which they precede to tell everyone 25-50 facts about themselves. So, I have decided to do a written version of this 25 facts about me. Anyways, here we go!

My sister, Claire, and I on our way to the Museum of Art!
I cannot believe that another school year has already came and gone. It is so crazy that last year around this time, I had finally narrowed it down to Baylor as my school of choice. And today I am back at home, with my first year of college done! It is scary and exciting to see how fast time flies. Even though I am glad to be back home, I am still really missing all of my new friends that I made ):
I cannot wait for next year to start. But, before that happens I am going to spend this summer having lots of fun with my friends and family back at home! I am ready to relax by the pool, read some books, and catch up on all my shows. And, I will most assuredly hit up the stores and get lots of shopping done (and hopefully kick that bad online shopping habit). Anyways, just wanted to talk to yall' for a little bit. Have an awesome summer yall'! :D
It is already finals week for the spring semester! And you know what that means. Lots of coffee, late nights, no sleep, and last but definitely not least...STRESS.
AGH! I am stressed out man!
I think the worst thing about finals is Dead Week. Those few days you have off class to study for the tests. Personally, I think it is awesome that we get those few extra days to study like crazy, but all that time also makes me psych myself out before the exams even start. And I find myself wide-eyed and scared that I am going to forget everything that I learned through the semester. Here are a couple things that I have helped me to reduce some of that stress, during study/finals time:
1. Good Music:
Some people like to have their study environments so, super-duper quiet to concentrate. But, I always feel distracted by every single little noise that happens when it gets too quiet. So, to help myself concentrate I like to listen to some really good, calming music. Sometimes I find it helpful to just listen to instrumental soundtracks, so that I do not concentrate on the lyrics instead of what I am studying.
2. Take Breaks:
Do NOT just study, study, study. That can result in information overload, and a reboot may not always be possible. Plus I do not think you roommate or study buddies want to see you go crazy town. Being a professional procrastinator and purveyor of all things lazy, I always think it is a good idea to take a nice break once in awhile. In addition to gaining back all your sanity, it is also good to take breaks to let your brain take in all of the information you are looking over. Take a nap, watch a video, take a walk; just do something other than just staring at a computer screen or your textbook!
3. Have some yummy snacks yo!:
I know this is surprising but, your body needs food! Do not starve yourself while studying. Your roommate does not need to come back from the library to find you on the floor from starvation.
4. Do not forget to sleep:
I know you want to stay up all night to try and take in all the information you think you will forget. But, none of your studying will payoff if you do not get any sleep. Our bodies need REM sleep to help encode all of the things we learn our brain-boxes. And we get sleep it helps us remember those facts for the exams. Plus, sleep is awesome!
5. Don't psych yourself out:
If you paid attention in class and read, you will do fine. Take a deep breath and remember that you are the bomb-diggity! If you have a positive attitude going into the exam and while you are studying, it will help out in the long run. Having a positive outlook will let you not psych yourself out, and do your best.
Anyways, I hoped at least one of these helps yall' out when you are studying or taking exams. Good luck out there!!
Hey Y'all!
I have been going crazy listening to all sorts of new music lately. So, I wanted to share five of my favorites at the moment. (Definitely, does not even cover it all). These put me in a good mood, and some I just love without explanation. But I find my self hitting rewind and listen to them again, and again. Well, here they are in no particular order. If you like any of these songs, then check out their other songs, because all of these artists are fantastic!!
This post is a little late for me, but so many things have been happening at school and at home for me to be posting lately. And, I know it is a lame excuse, but it is true. (:
Anyways, my best friend's sister had her 21st birthday a couple of weeks ago, and for that we all went out. We went to Billy Bob's: Texas' Largest Honky Tonk. They have everything! Dancing, bands, music, pool, and even live bull riding. Because, her sister is super-duper country, she decided to teach us some line-dancing, and some two-step. Which I have to admit is not as hard as I thought (even though I still messed up pretty bad). It was a ridiculous amount of fun, and I got to do many things which I had never done before! Like play pool, which is really surprising to me that I have never played. But, let's just say I will probably never play again, because my pool playing skills are even worse than my line dancing skills. And watching the bull riding was pretty neat too. Although it was really dangerous, it was fun to root on the people riding the bulls, to see if they could hold on longer. And last but not least, I finally got to wear my new boots!!
Going to Billy Bob's was definitely an experience. And, if you ever get a chance to go line dancing, I say just go for it! It is super fun, and if you are with your friends you can always have fun just dancing like crazy! (:
Get out there and dance!
Until next time,
Christine (:
Evidence of me actually attempting to two-step, and the disco-ball saddle in the middle.
I wore a red, loose button down shirt, jeans, and my boots of course!
This past Friday at Baylor University, we had our Relay for Life Event. And it was so much fun! If you do not yet know, Relay for Life is a fundraising walk that lasts all night, to raise awareness for cancer. By participating in the walk everyone is celebrating those who have survived cancer, those who still have it, and commemorate those who have passed. There are different events during every Relay for Life event that allow for each community to hold one that is unique and personal to each. We get to hear stories from those who have cancer to share their individual experiences and journeys. At Baylor we had a hair cutting ceremony, where those who had ridiculously long hair, had it cut, so they could donate it.
The survivors, during the survivor lap.
But, by far one of my favorite parts of the night is the Candlelight Luminaria. There are bags placed all around the track with names of loved ones who we have lost to cancer, or of those who currently have it, to honor them and remember their lives. Each bag represents a different person, and just show how much cancer can affect a community. For me, this was really personal because I lost my mom to cancer this past October. While looking at all of the luminaria, I could remember all of the good times we had, and how fulfilled her life was. It was a good way for me to commemorate her memory, and honor who she was. I love you mom!
My mom! Love and miss you!
Anyways, I strongly encourage whoever may be reading this to find ways to honor those that you love, and to cherish every little moment! And, if there is a Relay for Life in your community to get a team together and participate. Or participate in any event that might be closest to your heart. Not only to have a fun time with your friends, but to help raise awareness for cancer, and raise money for the research. You can sign up here.
